Meet lola

About lola

Hi there… my name is Lola

I guess you could say I’ve had quite the journey. I was found in a rural area running with other dogs that had been abandoned like me.   Because I allowed animal control to pet me, they loaded me up-they were very kind men.  They told me I was the sweetest girl ever but they were going to have to euthanize me because it’s outside of Little Rock and they don’t really have a facility to keep dogs.   They felt really bad, but I knew they were doing the best they could. I was even scheduled to be euthanized on April 16. But, they reached out to a bunch of rescues and the The Buford Project Rescue was able to make room for me. I’m so thankful to those two guys that they didn’t give up on me.

So here I am looking for my forever family.  Let me tell you a little about myself…

I’m a tall, elegant, long-legged lady—kind of like a supermodel.  The only difference between me and a supermodel is that I have a tail that goes super straight when I see birds and a nose that loves a good sniff.

My foster family thinks I might have some bird dog in me, because when I see birds (or really any little critter), I freeze into this perfect “point” pose. It’s pretty impressive, if I do say so myself.

Even though I look like an outdoorsy girl, I’m actually more of an indoor princess. I’ll happily go outside, but if everyone else is running around, you might still find me politely waiting by the door to go back in. I like to stand by the door, watch the action, wag my tail, and then join in when I feel like it. Being close to my people is my favorite place to be.

Speaking of people—I love them. A lot. I also love other dogs… big, small, young, old—you name it. I’m a friendly, gentle soul who just wants to be part of the pack.

I know what furniture is (I mean… who wouldn’t want to try a comfy couch?), but I’m very respectful when reminded. I’m learning quickly and I really want to make my humans happy. I’m also getting the hang of this thing called a crate—especially if you’ve got my harness in hand to guide me. Oh! About that—I came in with a pretty serious neck injury, so I wear a harness while I heal up. I’m being very brave about it.

Now let me tell you something I really love—walks! I am an A+ superstar on a leash. Seriously, I’ve got great manners and walk beautifully right by your side. The only thing is… if I spot a bird, my inner hunter kicks in and I might give a quick pull (they’re just so interesting!). So my person just needs to keep a good hold on the leash. The good news? I listen very well—if you tell me “no,” I stop right away. I’m smart like that.

And guess what else? I LOVE car rides. Windows, fresh air, new places… yes please! I’m always happy to hop in and go wherever you’re going.

Now, let’s talk about some of my favorite things:

• Listening to birds while standing very still like a statue

• Snacks… I am extremely food motivated (just being honest!)

• Watching other dogs chase balls… I might join, or I might just supervise

• Going on walks and showing off my leash skills

• Car rides with my people

• Wagging my very long, very skinny tail at a mosey along sort of speed.

Did I mention my tail? Because it’s legendary. Long, expressive, and almost always wagging—it kind of has a personality of its own.

At the end of the day, I’m a gentle, dainty girl who was clearly loved before. I’m ready for that again. I’m ready for a home where I can be safe, cozy, and close to my people.

If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful companion with a little bit of elegance and a whole lot of heart… I think we should meet.

Love,

Lola

About riley

Hi there! I’m Riley, and I’m on the lookout for my forever home!

Let me tell you a little about myself. I’m a happy-go-lucky pup who thinks that every object in the world is one of my beloved toys! From squeaky animals to bouncy balls, you name it—I love it! My foster is teaching me which toys are mine to chew, and I’m picking it up like a pro. You see, I can be easily distracted by new toys, and that helps me learn fast!

I’ve mastered the doggie door after just a couple of tries, proving that I’m super smart! Plus, there’s nothing quite like curling up in my crate at night; it’s my cozy little den. I’m the best snooze hound out there—my foster hardly hears a peep from me! Even when morning rolls around, I like to take my time waking up, giving my foster the "why so early?" look!

Training has been a blast. I learned to sit almost immediately because I discovered that sitting earns me tasty treats! I love to hang out in the kitchen while my foster prepares dinner, and sometimes I even sit facing the opposite way, which makes everyone giggle.

I’ve got a nice big slow feeder for my meals, which helps me enjoy my food a little more slowly. And when it’s time for my business, I dash through the doggie door and head to the backyard like a champ!

Walking on a leash is a learning experience too—I’m figuring out that the leash isn’t a chew toy! Each day, I get better and better. One time, I even leaped over my foster dad’s lap while running inside from the backyard—it was a spectacular jump! Who knows, I might have some agility skills in me!

I enjoy car rides and love meeting new people and pups! I hope to have a big yard to run around in someday with a few canine friends to play with. There’s so much to explore, and I can’t wait to discover the world!

So, if you’re looking for an adventurous buddy with a heart full of love, I’m your guy !

Signing off,

Riley
